TORNADO - The Team with the Comedy Flying Cow
BRIGHTON MODEL WORLD 2002

Friday
We took Tornado down to the Brighton Model World show, a fairly well established event that until now we hadn't attended before. We arrived just as the last robot demo of the day was happening, but it gave us time to set up and say hi to everyone. There were lots of teams and robots in attendance, including Razer, Wolverine, Grim Reaper, Terror Turtle, Dantomkia, Bigger Brother, Arnold Arnold Terminegger, Mortis, Ivor, Toecutter 2, Suicidal Tendencies, and Storm.

We spent the evening at Ian Watt's (Bigger Brother's) place, experiencing a very good curry cooked by Simon and Gary from Grim Reaper with the help of several teams...

Saturday
This was the second day of the show. We took part in all three demos through the day - it was a simple case of throw every working robot in the arena, and just keep going until everyone's batteries ran out - there were three demo sessions of only half an hour each, but they still drew in the crowds!

We spent the evening at an italian restaurant in town, filling the top floor with roboteers!

Sunday
Today was the last day of Brighton Model World. Again there were three demo sessions throughout the day, and we took part in them all, but in the very last session Dantomkia went through the side of Tornado and broke one of the drive sprockets! The damage looked bad but it won't be hard to fix, just replace the wheel and chain with spares and it's off we go again. We'll have to think about how we stop it happening again though...

After having a meeting and packing away our stuff, we had a nice indian meal on the way back home with Mike and Daniel from Dantomkia, and Gareth and Jon from Wolverine.
